Iconic South East Landmarks Shine Red for World AIDS Day 2023: A Tribute to Awareness and Hope

Iconic South East Landmarks Shine Red for World AIDS Day 2023: A Tribute to Awareness and Hope

December 1, 2024 Catherine Williams - Chief Editor Health

One in three people living with HIV in this country are women. To mark World AIDS Day, a campaign aims to reduce stigma against women with HIV. Landmark buildings will light up in red, including Kilkenny Castle, the Rock of Cashel, and sites in Waterford.

Stephen O’Hare, the Executive Director of HIV Ireland, emphasizes that HIV is different today. People have no reason to fear HIV. With proper medication, a person with HIV who has an undetectable viral load cannot transmit the virus.

Effective medication allows individuals to live long and healthy lives without the burden of HIV. For more details about the GLOW RED campaign and a list of participating buildings, visit the HIV Ireland website.
