Details of the Engagement
According to an initial investigation, the incident occurred on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, during a raid in the village of At-Taybah. The village is located in southern Lebanon, approximately three kilometers from the Israeli town of Misgav Am.
Golani troops had entered the area to search a new sector on the outskirts of the village, a region where IDF forces have been operating in recent days. During the operation, Hezbollah terrorists opened fire on soldiers from the 13th Battalion from close range.
The exchange of fire resulted in the death of Staff Sergeant Lifshiz. In addition to the fatality, five other combat soldiers were injured. One officer was seriously wounded, while four other soldiers sustained light to moderate injuries.
The injured personnel were evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment, and the IDF confirmed that their families have been notified.
