Iga Swiatek, the fourth seed from Poland, swiftly advanced to her first final of 2025 adn her first ever on grass Friday at the Bad Homburg Open in Germany. She is seeking a major win on the grass court.
Swiatek faced only one break point during her 6-1, 6-3 victory over No. 2 seed Jasmine Paolini of Italy.The five-time Grand Slam winner completed the match in just 66 minutes, marking her 50th career win against a top-10 opponent and her first on grass.
In Saturday’s final, Swiatek will face top-seeded Jessica Pegula. Pegula rallied from a 5-3 deficit in the second set to secure a 6-7 (2), 7-5, 6-1 victory against unseeded Czech player Linda Noskova. Noskova, who tallied 15 aces, initially controlled the match before Pegula won 10 of the final 11 games in 2 hours and 7 minutes.
Simultaneously occurring, at the Lexus Eastbourne Open in England, Alexandra Eala made history. The young tennis star became the first player from the Philippines to reach a WTA final, overcoming Varvara Gracheva of France 7-5, 2-6, 6-3.
