Illinois Football Ranked #24 in AP Top 25: Key Highlights and Upcoming Games
Illinois Football Update: November 17, 2024
The Illinois football team is currently ranked #24 in the AP Top 25. This marks the eighth time this season that the Illini have appeared in this poll. The last time the program had this many appearances was in 2001, with ten total.
Head coach Bret Bielema has guided the Illini to 13 AP poll rankings in his first four seasons. This is a notable achievement as only John Mackovic and Mike White had more rankings in their first four years as Illinois head coaches.
Recently, the team secured a strong 38-16 victory against Michigan State at home. The defense recorded five sacks, while running back Josh McCray scored three touchdowns. Wide receiver Pat Bryant contributed significantly with 135 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Looking ahead, Illinois will finish the regular season with two road games in the Big Ten. The next game is scheduled for Saturday, November 23, against Rutgers. The kickoff is set for 11 a.m. CT/12 p.m. ET and will be available on Peacock.
