Illinois State Police Seizes Large Cocaine Shipment
On Friday, Illinois State Police seized over 1,100 pounds of cocaine from a truck on Interstate 80 in Henry County. The seizure occurred around 2:10 p.m. during a routine inspection by an ISP trooper.
The authorities found approximately 1,146 pounds of cocaine in the truck, with an estimated street value exceeding $40 million. Two individuals in the truck, Vanshpreet Singh, 27, and Manpreet Singh, 36, were arrested. They face charges for possession of cocaine, possession with intent to deliver, and cocaine trafficking. Both were taken to the Henry County Jail and are awaiting a pre-trial release hearing.
ISP Director Brandan F. Kelly praised the department’s efforts to combat drug trafficking. “ISP’s coordinated focus on trafficking is helping keep dangerous drugs out of our communities,” he stated.
The Drug Enforcement Administration’s Chicago Field Division assisted in the investigation. The successful bust highlights ongoing efforts to maintain safety in local communities by eliminating the presence of illegal drugs.
