Revitalizing the Heart of Guayaquil: A Joint Initiative for the Light Park

The Association of Merchants of Guayaquil (Asoguayaquil) and the Office of the Mayor of Medellín have formed a strategic alliance to adopt joint actions and sponsor the iconic Light Park in the Guayaquil sector.

This initiative aims to redesign the park, a point of reference in the traditional commercial sector of El Hueco, to promote a sense of belonging and shared responsibility among citizens, merchants, and the District Administration.

Key commitments include organizing awareness days on the importance of park care and its environment, as well as community conservation efforts in collaboration with various District Administration entities.

Jannet Zuleta Gaviria, president of Asoguayaquil, emphasized the significance of this initiative, stating, “The Light Park is a vital axis that connects the entire commercial corridor of Hueco or Guayaquil, requiring public and private sector intervention to create value strategies for our visitors and the city. Asoguayaquil and all merchants are committed to managing and utilizing this space effectively for the benefit of all citizens.”

Asoguayaquil will also support cultural events that celebrate diversity and local traditions, promoting participation from the community in the sector.
