Imagine Dragons’ Reynolds Brothers launch ‘Last Flag’ Video Game
Updated June 9, 2025
Dan and Mac Reynolds, of Imagine Dragons fame, are venturing into the gaming world. Their new indie studio, Night Street Games, is developing “Last Flag,” a video game reimagining the classic capture the flag experience. The game aims to capture the essence of childhood games with a digital twist.
Set in a 1970s-inspired universe, “Last Flag” casts players as contestants on a globally televised game show hosted by Victor Fex. Teams hide their flag, control radar towers to locate opponents, and navigate hidden areas. The goal: capture the flag, defend it for one minute, and claim victory in this capture the flag game.
Matches, lasting 20 minutes or less, pit two teams of five against each other. ”Last Flag” introduces a unique mechanic: rather of elimination, players are “vacuum-tubed” to a green room, ready to rejoin the action. This ensures continuous engagement and fun for all participants in this new video game.
Mac Reynolds, CEO and co-founder of night Street Games, spoke about the inspiration behind “Last Flag.” “Dan and I grew up in Boy Scouts, playing capture the flag in the woods,” Reynolds said. “We wanted to recreate that quintessential childhood experience, focusing on the thrill of hiding, finding, and being a hero.”
The Reynolds brothers are also incorporating their musical talents into “Last Flag.” Dan Reynolds, along with JT Daly and Dave Lowmiller, are crafting a soundtrack using vintage ’70s instruments. Notably, one of the soundtrack’s standout tracks is exclusively for players on the losing team.
Matthew Berger, game director at Night Street Games, emphasized the importance of sound design.”We want players to experience joy at every moment, even in defeat,” Berger said. “The losing team gets to enjoy a unique song that the winners don’t, making the experience memorable even in loss.”
“Last Flag” is slated for a 2026 release on Windows PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Console versions are also in progress.
What’s next
Gamers can anticipate the release of “Last Flag” in 2026, with console versions to follow. The game promises a fresh take on the capture the flag concept, blending nostalgia with modern gaming mechanics.
