Key Points for an MMA Grading System:
-
Recognition and Progression: A grading system allows athletes to see their growth through measurable steps.
-
International Unification: A standardized system ensures that training criteria are consistent across different regions.
-
Amateur Accessibility: It provides amateur practitioners a structured way to learn and engage with the sport.
-
Martial Values Promotion: It emphasizes discipline and respect, aligning MMA with traditional martial ethics.
-
Safety and Skill Development: A grading system ensures skill progression occurs safely and appropriately.
-
Professionalization of the Sport: It supports the establishment of a solid foundation for MMA federations globally.
- Stronger Community: It fosters a sense of belonging among practitioners, creating a united culture in the sport.
Establishing a grading system can help MMA grow and enhance its appeal. It recognizes the martial roots of the sport while paving the way for future development. This initiative aims to support the education and growth of practitioners at all levels. For more details on the IMMAF grading scheme, you can contact Andrew Moshanov, Director of Development.
