Former Indian cricketer Mohammed Kaif has weighed in on Yashasvi Jaiswal’s recent struggles in the field, suggesting that a hand strap might potentially be to blame for the young player’s dropped catches. Jaiswal dropped four crucial catches during the first Test against England in Leeds, a match India lost by five wickets.
The dropped chances proved costly. In the first innings, jaiswal failed to hold onto an edge from Ollie Pope, who then went on to score 106. He later dropped Harry Brook in the slips. In the second innings, he put down a chance offered by Ben Duckett, who capitalised by scoring a match-winning 149.
Kaif believes the strap Jaiswal wears around his hand is hindering his ability to catch effectively. “Why is Yashasvi Jaiswal dropping catches?
