Asia Research and Engagement (ARE), a leading association bridging the gap between investors and lasting development in Asia, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Country Director to spearhead its operations in India. This is a unique opportunity to lead a growing team and drive impactful change within one of the world’s most dynamic economies.
Based in India, preferably Delhi or Mumbai, the Country Director will play a pivotal role in shaping ARE’s strategy and expanding its influence within the Indian corporate landscape. This full-time position offers a one-year contract with the potential for renewal.
Driving Sustainable impact
ARE empowers investors to address critical sustainability challenges in Asia thru collaborative engagement programs. By assembling coalitions of investors and leveraging dialog and shareholder escalation tools, ARE works to shift mindsets and drive positive change within finance and industry.
The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in stakeholder management, corporate engagement, and leading impactful programs. They will be a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the Indian corporate and social impact landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement ARE’s strategy in India, ensuring alignment with global goals and local relevance. Build a high-performing team to execute ARE’s mission.
Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including corporates, investors, government agencies, and civil society organizations. Drive investor-backed engagement initiatives focused on energy transition and finance emissions.
Local Depiction: Serve as ARE’s primary spokesperson in India, effectively communicating its impact and goals through high-level meetings, conferences, and events.
Energy Transition Program: Lead ARE’s energy transition program in India, collaborating with investors and funders to drive change through research and engagement with corporates and banks. Oversee program implementation, ensuring timely delivery and achievement of impact goals.
Fundraising & Resource Mobilization: Identify and pursue funding opportunities,working closely with ARE’s fundraising team to secure resources for projects in India.
Qualifications:
Over 20 years of proven work experience, including 10+ years in a leadership role within the non-profit, impact, or sustainability sectors.
Strong background in corporate engagement and managing complex stakeholder relationships.
Demonstrated success in leading programs that drive environmental and/or social impact.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,with the ability to influence high-level stakeholders.
Experience managing teams and working across diverse functional areas.
Knowledge of the Indian corporate and social impact landscape is highly desirable.
Strong financial acumen and experience with budget management.* Master’s degree in business administration, public policy, social sciences, or a related field is preferred.
