Indiana Pacers and Aaron Nesmith Agree to Two-Year Contract Extension
Pacers Lock Up Aaron Nesmith with Two-Year Extension
The Indiana Pacers have signed Aaron Nesmith to a two-year contract extension, worth approximately $62 million in total value, extending his deal thru the 2028-29 season. This coincides with the expiration of star point guard Tyrese Haliburton’s contract.
Nesmith, a “terrific three-and-D player,” significantly outperformed his previous contract, averaging 12 points per game last season with over 43% shooting from three-point range. He continued this strong performance throughout the Pacers’ run to the NBA Finals.
Pacers President of Basketball Operations Kevin pritchard emphasized the team’s focus on player progress and cultural fit, stating they prioritize players who can grow within their established culture over simply acquiring highly-talented individuals.
The extension allows nesmith to become a free agent after nine years of service at age 29, though he will be eligible for another extension in October 2027. head coach Rick carlisle praised Nesmith’s athleticism, shooting ability, defense, and rebounding, noting his impact upon returning from injury earlier this year.
