Unexpected Change in CEO Role
Columbus Regional Health (CRH) in Indiana is navigating a swift leadership change. Steve Baker, who assumed the roles of president and CEO on April 1, 2025, is no longer with the organization, effective immediately as of August 21, 2025. This departure comes after less than five months in the position.Prior to becoming CEO, Baker served as president and COO starting in August 2024, according to Becker’s Hospital Review.
A Familiar Face Returns: Jim Bickel Steps In
To ensure a smooth transition, Jim Bickel has returned to CRH as interim president and CEO. Bickel previously held the CEO position for over a decade,serving from 2007 until his retirement on March 31,2025. He expressed his commitment to the organization, stating, I have served CRH proudly for 35 years and can personally attest to the positive impact our workforce and the culture within this organization has on the patients and the community we serve,”
according to a CRH news release. he intends to remain in the interim role through 2025 and into 2026, providing stability while a permanent replacement is sought.
