IndiGo to Expand Assam Flight Network After CM Talks

IndiGo will increase it’s air service in Assam, following discussions between airline executives and Chief Minister himanta Biswa Sarma. The expansion aims to improve air connectivity to and from the region, according to an official statement.
During a meeting in new delhi on May 22, Sarma urged IndiGo to enhance air connectivity to key Assam locations, specifically Silchar, Dibrugarh, and North Lakhimpur. The meeting included IndiGo’s senior management and the Secretary of Civil Aviation.
Responding to the request to enhance air connectivity, IndiGo announced a new non-stop flight between Delhi and Jorhat, scheduled to begin in mid-September 2025. Additionally, a new service connecting Guwahati and Navi Mumbai will commence in winter 2025, airline officials said.
The airline also plans to reroute its Delhi-Dibrugarh flight to include a stopover in Guwahati,providing morning connectivity between Assam’s two capitals. IndiGo is also considering a morning Guwahati-Silchar flight and evaluating scheduled operations from Lilabari Airport in North Lakhimpur.
