IndiGo Orders Additional Airbus A350 Aircraft, Bolstering Growth Plans
Updated June 01, 2025
IndiGo, the Indian airline, announced Sunday that it is increasing its order of Airbus A350 aircraft by 30, adding to the 30 already on order. This move signals a significant expansion of IndiGo’s fleet and its commitment to future growth in the aviation sector.
Pieter Elbers, IndiGo CEO, confirmed that deliveries of the new aircraft are expected to commence in 2027. The initial order for 30 A350-900s included options for an additional 70 purchases. This latest agreement firms up 30 of those optional orders.
The agreement was formalized at a press conference where Elbers signed a memorandum of understanding with Airbus. This order brings IndiGo’s total to over 900 aircraft scheduled for delivery in the coming years.
in June 2023, IndiGo placed a record-breaking order for 500 Airbus aircraft. Including that order, the airline has nearly 1,000 A320 Family aircraft yet to be delivered over the next decade.
“It was last year that IndiGo signed a deal with Airbus for buying 30 Airbus 350 900s with 30 firm and 70 purchase rights, and today we’re confirming the intention to confirm 30 out of those 70 also into a firm order,” Elbers said.
