Indonesia Commits to Robust Health Sector Funding, Allocating Rp218.5 Trillion for 2025

Jakarta, ANTARA – indonesia’s Finance Minister, Sri Mulyani indrawati, has underscored the government’s unwavering dedication to prioritizing public health, reaffirming a consistent allocation of at least five percent of the State budget (APBN) to the health sector. This commitment, in place since 2016, aims to guarantee accessible, high-quality healthcare for all citizens.
Sustained investment in Public Health
“Since 2016, #UangKita has consistently allocated more than five percent of the budget to ensure the public has access to quality health services,” minister Sri Mulyani stated in a recent Instagram post, highlighting the government’s proactive approach to healthcare financing.
For the upcoming 2025 State Budget, a considerable Rp218.5 trillion has been earmarked for the health sector.This significant financial commitment is designed to bolster a wide array of crucial health programs, with a particular focus on the integrated Primary Care Posyandu (Posyandu Integrasi Layanan Primer or ILP).
Empowering Remote Communities Through Posyandu
The ILP initiative is central to the government’s strategy to reach and serve communities in remote and underserved areas. Minister Sri Mulyani emphasized the vital role this allocation plays in ensuring equitable access to essential health services. These include essential check-ups, vital immunizations, and crucial nutrition education for individuals residing far from permanent health facilities.
The posyandu program, a cornerstone of community-based healthcare, facilitates regular monthly activities for various demographic groups, including toddlers, adolescents, women of reproductive age, and the elderly. These services are diligently provided by local community health centers (puskesmas), ensuring that healthcare reaches the grassroots level.
“This good program will continue and be enhanced in 2026 because health services are the right of every citizen,” Minister Sri Mulyani affirmed, underscoring the long-term vision for healthcare accessibility.
mid-Year Financial Overview and Key Health Expenditures
As of the first half of 2025, the government has successfully disbursed Rp78.6 trillion,representing 36 percent of the total health budget.This expenditure is divided between central government spending, amounting to Rp52.1 trillion, and transfers to regional governments, totaling Rp26.5 trillion.
The health-related expenditures encompass several critical areas:
Hospital Revitalization: Rp1.9 trillion has been allocated for hospital revitalization projects. The focus is on upgrading Class D and class D Pratama hospitals to Class C, with a strategic emphasis on strengthening infrastructure for specialized services such as cardiac, stroke, and urology care.
National Health Insurance (JKN): A significant portion, Rp23.2 trillion, is dedicated to supporting the National Health Insurance (JKN) premium assistance programs, ensuring that more citizens can access healthcare through this vital scheme.
Vaccines and Immunizations: Rp1.1 trillion has been allocated to procure vaccines and support immunization programs, a critical component in preventing infectious diseases and safeguarding public health.
Free Health Check Program (PKG): The Free Health Check Program (PKG) receives Rp140.1 billion, facilitating early detection and management of various health conditions.
These comprehensive allocations reflect Indonesia’s steadfast commitment to building a resilient and accessible healthcare system for all its citizens.
