A recent survey by Indonesia’s Ministry‌ of Transportation predicts a staggering 110 million people,⁤ nearly half ​the nation’s population, will ⁤be⁣ traveling⁢ during the holiday season. This ‍marks a important increase⁣ from last year’s numbers, with many eager to reunite with loved ones‍ or explore the archipelago’s diverse offerings.

“we hope that all the ⁢facilities and infrastructure wich have been well-prepared can help and serve the people on their trips,” Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi said recently. “We also call on all travelers to be ​cautious ⁣of ⁤weather conditions.”

The ministry ‍anticipates peak outbound travel on December ⁤21st for ⁤Christmas and December 28th for⁣ New year’s. To mitigate potential traffic snarls, authorities are implementing⁢ several measures, including contraflow traffic schemes on major toll ⁤roads and temporary ⁣bans on cargo trucks‍ during peak travel days. Essential goods ​like food ​and fuel will be exempt from these restrictions.

Security preparations are also in full swing, with police and military personnel deployed at key locations like airports, seaports, and shopping malls. National ⁢Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo emphasized the commitment to‍ ensuring a safe and secure holiday season for all.
