Thus, by 2025,⁢ we are optimistic that there will be no need for imports ⁢of staple foods like rice, sugar, or salt,⁤ except for special types ⁣like⁤ basmati⁢ rice.”

Adi highlighted⁣ the current sufficiency ⁢of several key commodities, including chicken meat, shallots, eggs, ⁣and chili peppers, demonstrating the progress already made towards self-reliance.

To ensure the success of this initiative, Bapanas has⁣ tasked the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) wiht absorbing domestic production,⁢ aligning with President Subianto’s ⁢directive to support local farmers.

The Government Rice⁢ reserve⁤ (CBP) currently‍ holds ‍a healthy 1.7 million tons,providing reassurance about the national rice supply. “The president has stated that our stock this ‌year is the best compared to‍ previous years,” Adi affirmed.⁢ “Therefore, by 2025, we will stop importing⁤ rice.⁤ This‍ is the president’s order, with the spirit of self-sufficiency. We really have to be able to be food autonomous.”
