Indonesia to Host 2026 World Science Forum: Focus on Global Resilience and Equity
World Science Forum 2024 Concludes in Budapest
The 11th World Science Forum took place in Budapest, Hungary, from November 20 to 23, 2024. Participants from various organizations accepted a declaration that emphasizes the need for effective science and policy collaboration in response to global challenges. The next forum will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia, in 2026, under the theme “Science for Global Resilience and Equity.”
The declaration highlights the rapid changes our world faces. It calls for better scientific understanding to promote long-term, evidence-based decisions. Key issues noted include climate change, inequality, and technological disruption.
The World Science Forum is supported by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, UNESCO, and the International Science Council, among others. The forum attracted around 1,200 delegates from 122 countries and featured 100 lectures across numerous sessions.
The declaration states: “Science is a universal language. It should guide policymakers and society on risks and choices. We recognize the importance of science diplomacy to address global challenges.”
