According to Associated Press coverage, West Kalimantan recorded 3,120 hotspots, Central Kalimantan recorded 2,314, and South Sumatra recorded 1,500. Authorities are also intensifying weather-modification operations to induce rainfall by dispersing salt particles into suitable clouds. These operations utilize 30 aircraft dedicated to cloud-seeding and water-bombing over Kalimantan, alongside 22 helicopters covering Sumatra. Law enforcement and regulatory bodies have targeted illicit land-clearing practices. The Forestry Ministry announced on August 25, 2026, that it sanctioned several forestry concession holders after discovering that more than 15 square kilometers (5.8 square miles) of forest and land burned within their managed areas on Borneo island.
