Indonesian Navy Soldiers Kill Journalists in South Kalimantan, Rape Alleged

The Journalist Lawyer Team in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, revealed Navy soldiers named Jumran raped the victim before committing murder. Family lawyers said Jumran soldiers had raped the victim twice.

“Based on evidence, we convey that the victim experiences sexual violence, this is a rape,” said Juwita’s family lawyer, Muhamad Pazri, reported BetweenThursday (3/4/2025).

Pazri said the rape of Jumran soldiers to the victim first took place in the span of 25-30 December 2024. The second event occurred on March 22, 2025, right on the day of the victim’s body was found.

“In September 2024, acquaintances through social media, then communication, then exchange of telephone numbers, until finally in the vulnerable time of December 25-30 the perpetrators ordered the victim to order a hotel room in Banjarbaru,” Pazri said, representing the official statement of the family.

According to Pazri, the perpetrators told the victim to order a hotel room because of exhaustion after the activity. The victim without being suspicious of being willing to order the lodging room at one of the hotels in Banjarbaru.

After that, said Pazri, the perpetrators told the victim to wait. After coming on that day, Jumran’s soldier brought the victim into the room and pushed to the bed, the perpetrator had a chance to curl the victim before raping in the room.

“All of these incidents were told by the victim to his brother -in -law on January 26, 2025, the victim showed a short video evidence, there were even some photos,” Pazri said.

Pazri said the victim also had proof of video related to the actions of rape committed by Jumran soldiers. Proof of the five -second video recorded the perpetrators wearing pants and clothes after doing the action. At that time the victim was scared so that the video recording trembled.

Until now, the Banjarmasin Denpomal has not been willing to provide official information to the media crew. However, the suspected Jumran perpetrators who had previously served in Lanal Balikpapan had been handed over by Denpomal Balikpapan to Denpomal Banjarmasin to be detained on Friday (3/28) night.

The murder incident occurred on Friday (22/3). Journalist The young was found dead in Mount Kupang, Cempaka Village, Cempaka District, Banjarbaru City, on Saturday (3/22) around 3:00 pm West Indonesia Time. His body was lying on the edge of the road with his motorcycle which later arose suspected of being a single accident victim.

Residents who found the first time did not see the signs of the victim had a traffic accident. In the victim’s neck, there are a number of bruises. The victim’s relatives also said that Juwita’s cellphone did not exist.
