Indonesian Students Shine at International Physics Olympiad, Bringing Home Medals
Jakarta – Indonesia’s brightest young minds have once again demonstrated their prowess on the global stage, achieving notable success at the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO). The nation’s representatives returned with medals, a testament to their dedication, rigorous training, and the unwavering support of their mentors.
A Triumph of Talent and Dedication
Maria Veronica Irene Herdjiono, Head of the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas) of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, lauded the students’ achievements in an official statement. “Congratulations to the students. May this experiance be a valuable asset for the future,” she remarked,also extending her gratitude to the coaching team for their commitment throughout the planning and competition phases.
This year’s IPhO presented a formidable challenge, with the number of participants nearly doubling from the previous year. Triyanta, the IPhO Coaching Coordinator from the Bandung institute of Technology, highlighted the intense competition. “The students did their best. They competed with 405 students from 92 countries,” he stated, underscoring the high caliber of the event.

The competition itself was a demanding test of skill and endurance. Daffa Virwandy, one of the medalists, described the process, which involved two five-hour stages: experimental and theoretical. For Daffa, the culmination of three years of hard work and training was a moment of immense pride. “I am very proud to be able to contribute to bringing honor to Indonesia at the IPhO,” he shared.
Muhammad Rakha Naufal Maulana echoed these sentiments, viewing the achievement as clear evidence of Indonesian students’ capability to compete internationally.”I’m proud to win a medal at a prestigious world-class event like IPhO,” Rakha said. He also offered words of encouragement to his peers, advising them to use any negativity as motivation. “If people say anything about you, use it as fuel to prove yourself,” he advised.
The International Physics olympiad is renowned as one of the most prestigious science competitions globally,evaluating participants on their theoretical and experimental physics skills,including critical thinking,analysis,and advanced problem-solving abilities.
