Indulge in a Royal Treat: Mornington Crescent Anniversary Afternoon Tea at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi British Exhibition 2024
Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi British Exhibition 2024: Mornington Crescent Anniversary Afternoon Tea Review
Following Part 1 of the Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi British Exhibition 2024, we attended Part 2, which featured the highly anticipated Mornington Crescent Tokyo’s 10th-anniversary celebration. The main event was the Mornington Crescent Tokyo Anniversary Afternoon Tea, a special afternoon tea organized by Stacey, which required online reservations beforehand.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by the beautifully set up afternoon tea stands. Our reservation was for 10:10, and we were seated at the high counter, eagerly awaiting the start of the afternoon tea.
The afternoon tea consisted of three tiers: savory, scones, and sweets. We began with the savory section, which included a cucumber and dill sandwich, mini jacket potatoes and coronation chicken, and mackerel pate and rye crackers. The mackerel pate was a standout, made from smoked mackerel and paired perfectly with the crispy and fragrant rye crackers.
The middle tier featured a selection of scones, including savory scones with cheddar cheese and chives. These scones were flavorful and delicious, and we wished we had wine to pair with them.
The top tier was a stunning display of sweets, including a mini Battenberg cake, a matcha Battenberg, and a mini Pavlova parfait. The matcha Battenberg was a highlight, with a bitter taste that was easy to eat and would likely be a hit with Japanese people. The Pavlova parfait was a refreshing change of pace after the savory dishes and baked goods.
Another standout was the Bramley Apple Crumble, which looked plain but was irresistible due to the sweet and sour taste of the Bramley apple and the crispy crumble. We highly recommend trying this dessert.
The tea was served in a teapot, and we were able to refill our cups as many times as we liked. The electric kettle in the background was a nice touch.
We highly recommend making a reservation for the Mornington Crescent Anniversary Afternoon Tea, as it allows you to take your time and enjoy the experience without the need for a numbered ticket and wait. The reservation-only eat-in option is a great way to experience the afternoon tea without the crowds.
the Mornington Crescent Anniversary Afternoon Tea was the highlight of our British exhibition experience. We were impressed by Stacey’s good taste and attention to detail, and we would highly recommend this event to anyone looking for a unique and delicious afternoon tea experience.
