Indulge in the Sweetest Celebration: International Chocolate Day Honors the World’s Most Irresistible Temptation
Celebrating International Chocolate Day with Cakawa Chocolates
This holiday, which dates back to 1995 in France, in honor of the legendary author Roald Dahl, author of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, takes on a special meaning at Cakawa Chocolates, a factory that starts rooted in the hearts of Venezuelans, because it is full of purpose in favor of Venezuelan cocoa and those who grow it.
The Legend Behind Cakawa
According to legend, it was a maiden who tried Kakawa (cocoa) for the first time in pre-Hispanic times, because the heart of chocoatl (chocolate) was feminine, but not from a young woman but from an old woman. Coco was a grandmother to our people, Nain Kakawa, the wise one, the one who guided, united and loved. “This must be why women connect so much with chocolate,” says Soraya Achkar, founder of Cakawa Chocolates and professor of cultural studies.
