The Arrest and Background
Leidy Tatiana Mafla-Martínez, a 26-year-old Colombian national, was arrested by U.S.Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents on August 15th while broadcasting live on TikTok. The arrest,which was captured on video by onlookers,occurred as she was exiting her Tesla. The Department of Homeland security (DHS) identified Mafla-martínez as an “illegal criminal alien” with a prior conviction for driving under the influence.
Mafla-Martínez entered the United States in 2022 and was initially released into immigration custody during the Biden administration.The DHS, in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), emphasized a stricter approach to immigration enforcement under the Trump administration, stating, “Under President Trump and Secretary Nodal, if you violate the law, you will face the consequences.”

With over 41,500 followers on tiktok, Mafla-Martínez gained notoriety for posting videos documenting ICE operations in the Los Angeles area.Her content frequently showed official vehicles and personnel during arrests, effectively broadcasting the agency’s activities to her largely Spanish-speaking audience. She also reportedly shared facts about planned ICE raids, potentially hindering enforcement efforts and prompting a response from authorities.
Beyond simply documenting ICE activity, Mafla-Martínez actively participated in protests against the agency, including a exhibition on August 8th. Reports also indicate she celebrated the escape of three individuals previously arrested by ICE in Los Angeles.
The Arrest Itself: A Dramatic Scene
The arrest unfolded during a live TikTok broadcast. Videos circulating on social media show ICE officers removing Mafla-Martínez from her vehicle. She reportedly resisted, shouting that she would not comply. During the struggle, officers forced her to the ground, and she subsequently fainted. Paramedics arrived and transported her to a local health center where she remained in custody.
Witnesses also documented the removal of her Tesla from the scene by a tow truck.
