Instagram iPad App: Finally Launched After 15 Years
Instagram Launches Dedicated iPad App After 15-Year Wait
After a remarkable 15 years following its initial iOS debut,Instagram has finally released a dedicated submission tailored for the iPad. Meta, Instagram’s parent company, announced the launch in a blog post on September 3, 2025, making the app available for download promptly.
A Redesigned User Interface for the Larger Screen
The iPad app boasts a user interface substantially different from its mobile counterparts on iPhone and Android. upon opening, users are greeted directly with a feed populated by Reels, Instagram’s short-form video feature designed to compete with TikTok. Stories remain accessible at the top of the screen, maintaining a familiar element for existing users.
Enhanced Following Feed Options
A redesigned “Following” tab introduces three distinct feed views to refine content discovery. The “All” feed combines recommended posts and Reels from accounts you follow. For a more focused experience, the “Friends” feed displays content exclusively from accounts that follow you back, fostering a closer-knit community view. the “Latest” feed provides a purely chronological stream of posts and Reels from all followed accounts, offering a traditional, time-ordered browsing experience.
This launch addresses a long-standing request from iPad users who previously relied on the iPhone-scaled app, offering a more optimized and immersive Instagram experience on Apple’s tablet platform.
