Established in 1920, the association was founded with Captain Masters serving as the first president and Luke Morrison as the secretary. The organization’s primary mandate is to support and promote the growth and development of insurance brokers within New Brunswick.
Member Services and Professional Development
IBANB provides a range of professional development programs and marketing initiatives designed to ensure that brokers remain the preferred representatives for insurance in New Brunswick. These resources include political action representation and various educational tracks.
The association manages several professional certification and education paths for its members, including:
- The Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) program, which includes both new and previous editions.
- The Canadian Professional Insurance Broker (CPIB) designation.
- Fundamentals of Insurance courses.
- Best practices training for customer service for insurance professionals.

For the 2026 calendar year, IBANB has established several recognition awards and financial bursaries to support the profession. The 2026 IBANB Star Awards include the Above & Beyond Award of Excellence, the Insurer Partner Award, and the Emerging Professional Award.

To assist brokers with the costs of professional advancement, the association offers three specific bursary applications for 2026:

Broker Resources and Consumer Outreach
The association maintains a variety of resources to assist brokers in managing different insurance sectors, including commercial, home, and auto insurance. The organization manages an AI project and a podcast known as IBACtech.
For consumers, IBANB operates a Find a Broker
directory to connect the public with licensed brokerages. This directory includes firms such as AIM Insurance in Moncton, All Coverage – Bestway Insurance in St Stephen, and All Coverage Insurance – Harry Martin in Wilsons Beach.
The association also conducts digital campaigns to educate the public on the advantages of using an insurance broker, emphasizing that insurance can be complex and that brokers provide a professional advantage to the consumer.
