Interest in the Pregnant and Parenting School is increasing

Interest in the School of Pregnant Women and Parenting at the JZU Health Center in Banja Luka is increasing, but the number of pregnant women is limited due to a lack of capacity in the building.

As they say from JZU Dom zdravlja, interest in the school is increasing, but the number of pregnant women who can participate in one cycle is limited due to the space in the lecture hall in the Family Medicine Educational Center and the room kinesitherapy.

“Therefore, in 2024, there were seven cycles at the Pregnant Women and Parenting School between January 20 and August 24, and 73 pregnant women attended,” they said.

In 2023, as they say, there were seven cycles of lectures at the School of Pregnant Women and Parenting of the JZU Dom zdravlja in Banja Luka between May 13, 2023 and December 23, 2023, and 109 pregnant women attended the same,” it was explained.

According to them, the aim of the training, which is completely free, is to provide support to mothers-to-be and enable them to feel safe and informed during the whole process of pregnancy and birth.

“Through various modules and workshops, pregnant women have the opportunity to learn about physical changes during pregnancy, proper nutrition, exercises for pregnant women, psychological aspects of pregnancy and parenting, as well as practical skills such as breastfeeding, care newborn and first aid,” they explained.

They add that the School for Pregnant Women and Parenting at JZU Dom zdravlja consists of three units, namely the school for pregnant women, psychophysical preparation for childbirth and healthy child rearing.

“The training of our pregnant women is carried out by a multidisciplinary team that includes doctors and nurses, that is, technicians from the fields of gynaecology, paediatrics, dentistry, physiology and our Mental Health Protection Centre”, they said.

As they add, the school for pregnant women and raising children is organized so that one cycle lasts for five Saturdays between 10 am and 11:30 am

“Our aim is to increase the number of pregnant women who are interested and will attend the School for Pregnant Women and Childrearing through better information,” they said.
