International Judo Federation President: Astana sports facilities meet international standards
(Kazakhstan International News Agency) On the 30th, Marius Wiese, President of the International Judo Federation (IJF), who was on an official visit to Kazakhstan, visited a number of key sports facilities in the capital Astana.
Wei Ze’s first stop was the Ushkenpilov Martial Arts School, which opened in 2019. This modern venue has a full range of facilities to host world-class events, covering Greco-Roman wrestling, freestyle wrestling, women’s wrestling, judo, karate, taekwondo and mixed martial arts.

Later, Wiese also inspected the National Sports University under construction, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
During his visit, Wiese met with a number of potential fighters and Kazakhstan’s top judokas, including Paris Olympic bronze medalist Husman Herkezbayev, Paris Paralympic champion Akhmalal Navettenko, world champion Abiba Abzaknova and 2009 world champion Maxim Rakov. At the meeting, all parties had in-depth exchanges on issues such as the development and international promotion of judo in Kazakhstan.

-I was deeply impressed by this visit to Astana. I visited a number of sports facilities that meet international standards and are fully capable of hosting top-level events. At the same time, I also learned about the progress of the construction of the National Sports University, which will cultivate professional sports talents in Kazakhstan and promote the development of sports. – Wiese said.
According to previous reports, the 2027 Judo World Championships will be held in Kazakhstan.
