Introducing the ADK-1592 Development Kit for MIL-STD-1553 Communication in Radiation-Hardened Applications
Holt Integrated Circuits Launches ADK-1592 Development Kit
Holt Integrated Circuits, located in Aliso Viejo, California, has introduced the ADK-1592 development kit. This kit is designed to connect Holt’s HI-1592 radiation-hardened transceiver with a MIL-STD-1553 protocol controller or field-programmable gate array (FPGA).
The ADK-1592 is suitable for launch vehicles, high-altitude aircraft, and low-orbit satellites that utilize MIL-STD-1553 databus communications. The HI-1592 transceiver is resistant to latchup and can endure a single-event upset (SEU) with an LET of at least 67.7 MeV-cm²/mg. It is also radiation tolerant up to a total ionizing dose (TID) of 100 krad(Si).
The kit offers compatibility with 1.8-, 2.5-, and 3.3-volt digital I/O. This feature allows it to interface with a variety of FPGAs and controllers. The kit connects to an external MIL-STD-1553 databus controller board through a PMOD port.
This port provides the necessary digital transmit and receive signals to link the transceiver with a MIL-STD-1553 bus. An optional connector grants access to extra digital transceiver signals, such as Rx Enable and Tx Inhibit.
The development kit comes with DIP switches preset for PMOD port use. It loops back the digital transmit signals to the controller and connects to a MIL-STD-1553 bus. This can be done through direct or transformer-coupled configurations using the onboard triaxial bus connectors.
