The National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) has launched an investigation into the police shooting of a teenager in Semarang, Central Java. A police officer shot a 17-year-old boy named GRO while trying to break up a gang brawl near a housing complex on November 24. The officer claimed he was attacked by the gang, which forced him to use his weapon. GRO was taken to a hospital but died from his injuries.
Two other boys were also shot during the incident. They are 16-year-old S and 17-year-old A, both students at SMK 4 Semarang state vocational high school.
