A multi-agency investigation is underway following a house fire and explosions in Troy, Illinois. The incident occurred on the 8000 block of West Kirsch Road in Madison County.
According to the Troy Fire Chief, emergency crews received a call regarding a house fire with explosions at approximately 11:18 p.m. On April 5, 2026. Upon arrival, fire crews found the residence mostly engulfed, with estimates indicating that approximately 80% of the house was enflamed.
One person was transported to an area hospital with injuries. As of April 6, 2026, no deaths have been confirmed.
Emergency Response and Investigation
The emergency response involved firefighters from Troy, Maryville, and O’Fallon, and included a medical evacuation to St. Louis.
Investigation efforts continued into the morning of April 6, 2026. A Hazardous Device Unit, also known as the Bomb Squad, arrived at the scene at approximately 5:30 a.m. Shortly after, at around 6 a.m., the house caught on fire again.
