iOS 26 Update Brings smart Display Zoom to CarPlay

Apple’s upcoming iOS 26 will include a Smart Display Zoom feature for CarPlay, allowing drivers to adjust the display scale to their preference.The setting, highlighted during Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025, aims to improve the user experience across various vehicle screen sizes.

Olivia Hess, a CarPlay software engineer, said that iOS 26 enables drivers to configure their display scale through the Smart Display Zoom setting within CarPlay. Hess added that when enabled, the CarPlay app will automatically resize to fit the new display scale.
The iOS 26 developer beta is currently available, with a public beta slated for release next month. The full update is expected to launch in September for iPhone 11 models and later.
In addition to Smart Display zoom, the iOS 26 update brings several enhancements to CarPlay. These include a Liquid Glass design, Live Activities on the Dashboard screen, a new widgets screen, tapbacks and pinned conversations in Messages, multi-touch support in mapping apps, and the ability to stream videos from an iPhone via AirPlay while the car is parked.
