IOS 26 Kids Screen Time Control
For Soon-to-Be Parents: Apple’s iOS 26 Aims to Bolster Child Safety Online
As a parent-to-be, the digital world my child will inherit weighs heavily on my mind. How will they navigate online interactions once they have a phone or tablet? The good news is that Apple is stepping up to address these concerns with its upcoming iOS 26 update, bringing enhanced parental controls to iPhones.
What’s Coming in iOS 26?
Set to launch in the coming weeks, iOS 26 builds upon existing parental control features, such as screen time management and App Store purchase controls. The new update introduces features designed to provide an additional layer of protection for children online:
nudity Detection and Blurring: iOS 26 will be able to detect and blur nudity in certain apps, helping to shield children from inappropriate content. Unknown number Interaction Requests: Children will be required to request permission before interacting with unknown numbers, preventing unwanted contact.
Significant Considerations
It’s important to remember that iOS 26 is currently in beta testing. This means that the update may contain bugs and could affect your device’s battery life. If you’re interested in trying out the beta, it’s best to download it on a secondary device.
Additionally, Apple may adjust these controls and other update features before the final version of iOS 26 is released this fall.
A Step in the Right Direction
while I haven’t been able to test these features firsthand, the introduction of enhanced parental controls in iOS 26 is a welcome development. As parents, we wont to equip our children with the tools they need to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly. Apple’s efforts to provide these tools are a step in the right direction.
