Iowa City, Iowa – February 22, 2026 – As the University of Iowa women’s basketball team celebrates Senior Day with a high-stakes matchup against the University of Michigan, the program is also hosting a significant recruiting event, welcoming several promising young players to Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Among them is Nation Williams, a five-star power forward prospect from Las Vegas, Nevada, who is currently on an official visit.

The No. 12 ranked Hawkeyes (21-5, 12-3 Big Ten) face off against the No. 5 Michigan Wolverines (22-4, 13-2 Big Ten) in a game that will draw considerable attention from college basketball fans and recruiting analysts alike. However, the presence of Williams, ranked among the top ten players in the 2027 recruiting class, adds another layer of significance to the contest.

Williams, who stars for Centennial High School in Las Vegas, is considered the No. 10 overall prospect nationally, the No. 1 power forward and the top player in the state of Nevada, according to the 247Sports Composite ranking. Her impressive statistics – averaging 17.3 points, 10.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.8 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 54% from the field and 50% from three-point range – demonstrate her all-around skill set and potential impact at the collegiate level.

The 6-foot-2 forward recently earned a gold medal with the U.S. Team at the 2025 FIBA U16 AmeriCup, further solidifying her reputation as a rising star in the sport. She has already received scholarship offers from over 20 universities, including prominent programs such as South Carolina, Baylor, Louisville, Notre Dame, UCLA, and several other Big Ten schools like Wisconsin, Rutgers, Maryland, Michigan State, Oregon, and Washington.

Williams’ visit to Iowa comes shortly after an official visit to UCLA on February 5th, indicating a serious evaluation of multiple options. According to reports, she is the sole recruit making an official visit to Iowa this weekend, suggesting the Hawkeyes are focusing their efforts on making a strong impression.

Beyond Williams, the Hawkeyes are also hosting at least eight other prospects for unofficial visits. These include forward Katie Muller of West Des Moines, Iowa (Dowling Catholic); point guard Easton McCollough from Farmington, Arkansas (Farmington); wing Khloe Nicholson of Quincy, Illinois (Quincy); forward Nyajuacni Riak from Madison, Wisconsin (La Follette); guard Olivia Johnson from Mundelein, Illinois (Carmel Catholic); forward Logan Miller from Andover, Minnesota (Andover); guard Emily Tanny from Asbury, Iowa (Wahlert Catholic); and guard Harper Winter from Overland Park, Kansas (Blue Valley North).

Katie Muller is a highly-regarded shooting guard, ranked No. 2 in the state of Iowa by PrepGirlsHoops. Easton McCollough, a four-star prospect from the 2028 class, averages an impressive 31.7 points per game. Khloe Nicholson, also a five-star recruit in the 2028 class, is ranked as the No. 7 overall player and No. 2 small forward nationally. Nyajuacni Riak, a four-star forward from Wisconsin, is ranked No. 11 nationally in the Rivals industry rankings.

The presence of these recruits underscores Iowa’s growing reputation as a destination for top women’s basketball talent, particularly under the current coaching staff. While the Hawkeyes have already secured a commitment from Jada Seubert, a top-ranked combo guard from Wisconsin for the 2027 class, the weekend’s visits represent a significant opportunity to add further depth and talent to their future roster.

The influx of potential recruits highlights the competitive landscape of college basketball recruiting. Programs across the country are vying for the attention of these young athletes, recognizing the potential for long-term success that a strong recruiting class can bring. Iowa’s ability to attract such high-profile visitors demonstrates its increasing prominence within the sport.

The outcome of these visits remains to be seen, but the weekend represents a crucial step in the recruiting process for both the University of Iowa and the prospective student-athletes. The combination of a high-profile game and the opportunity to experience the Iowa City campus and basketball program firsthand could prove to be a decisive factor in their eventual college choices.
