Iowa’s small business sector received a significant boost in May, with the U.S. Small Business Management (SBA) approving 55 loans totaling $27,425,600. These SBA-backed loans, facilitated through participating lenders, are set to bolster the state’s economy by supporting both new and existing ventures.
The SBA’s 7(a) and 504 programs played a crucial role in this economic activity, providing capital to 28 new and 27 existing businesses. The agency estimates that these loans will lead to the creation of 198 new jobs and the retention of 270 positions across Iowa.
Notably, Polk and Dallas counties saw the highest concentration of loan values, indicating strong entrepreneurial activity in these areas. These small business loans are vital for local economic advancement.
In Polk County, recipients included 319 Washington in Bondurant ($1,354,000), KDP management Services (West of Monks) at $930,000, and Prime Factors in Ankeny ($305,000).
