The accident occurred near Kittane in Hassan taluk when the vehicle Bardhan was traveling in suffered a tire burst. The driver, Manjegowda, lost control, causing the vehicle to collide with a house and a roadside tree. Bardhan sustained severe head injuries and tragically succumbed to them during treatment at a local hospital. Manjegowda escaped with minor injuries.Bardhan, the son of a sub-divisional magistrate, had recently completed his four-week training at the Karnataka Police Academy in Mysuru.
