Understanding iRacing Super Sessions
Beyond standard events, iRacing introduces “Super Sessions” – a unique format designed to showcase the best talent within specific racing disciplines. These aren’t simply mass-participation races; they’re carefully structured competitions that reward consistent performance.
Super sessions begin like regular public iRacing series, with scheduled events throughout the week. Your top four race results determine your initial point standing, but you can continue to race to improve your average score. On Super Session day, drivers are assigned to splits based on their weekly point totals, not their overall iRating. This ensures competitive balance and allows a wider range of drivers to participate at a high level. Even if a top-scoring driver can’t compete,a replacement is drawn from the registered pool, ensuring all splits are filled. While the top split determines the official event champion, all registered drivers have the chance to race.
Super Sessions are notably well-suited for events with shorter race formats, maximizing participation. Examples include the iRacing SCCA Runoffs, the Crandon Pro 4 Championship, and the iRacing Chili Bowl.
