In Kuwait, the Mina al-Ahmadi oil refinery was targeted by drone strikes in the early morning of April 3. Emergency and firefighting teams were deployed to the scene, and environmental experts began monitoring air quality following the strikes.
a power generation and water desalination plant in Kuwait was struck. While Kuwaiti authorities attributed the attack to Iran, the specific plant was not identified, and the full extent of the damage remains unknown.
The strikes in the Gulf coincided with previous volatility in the region. On March 30, 2026, an Indian national was killed after a Kuwaiti power and desalination plant was hit.
Impact in the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain
In the United Arab Emirates, operations were suspended at the Habshan gas facilities in Abu Dhabi following the strikes. Authorities reported that 12 people were injured in the UAE, with injuries resulting from falling debris after missiles were intercepted by air defense systems.
Simultaneous attacks also hit strategic energy and petrochemical sites in Bahrain, as part of a coordinated wave of drone and missile strikes launched by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards.
Conflicting Claims and Retaliation Warnings
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) denied responsibility for the strike on the Kuwaiti water desalination centers. In a statement posted on Telegram, the IRGC shifted the blame to Israel, describing the action as an unconventional and illegitimate attack
and a sign of the vileness and baseness of the Zionist occupiers.
Iran “condemn[s] this inhuman act and announce that the American bases and military in the region and the military and security centres of the Zionist regime in the occupied Palestinian territories are our powerful targets,” it added.
