Iran Issues Fatwa Against Donald Trump: ‘Enemy of God’
Iranian Ayatollah Declares Threats to Khamenei ‘Enemy of god’
Updated June 30, 2025
A prominent Iranian Grand Ayatollah, Makarem Shirazi, has issued a fatwa decreeing that any individual who poses a threat to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is considered “an enemy of God,” according to reports from state media.
The religious ruling from Shirazi came in response to inquiries regarding potential threats made by former U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli leaders.
A fatwa represents a legal pronouncement in Islam, issued by a qualified religious scholar, offering guidance on the interpretation and application of Islamic law.
Mehr News Agency reported that Shirazi’s fatwa extends its protection not only to the Supreme Leader but also to other senior shiite clerics, known as Marja.
Trump had previously commented, amid Israeli strikes within Iran, that he was aware of Khamenei’s location and considered the Iranian leader an “easy target,” though safe “for now.”
