Iran launched a ballistic missile barrage targeting Israel and several Gulf states on April 8, 2026, hours after United States President Donald Trump announced a two-week ceasefire agreement between the U.S. And Iran.

The missile attacks triggered air-raid sirens across northern, central, and southern Israel, as well as in Dubai, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. Reports indicate that the strikes occurred shortly after the announcement of the truce, which President Trump described as a total victory and a potential golden age of Middle East.

Impact in Israel and Regional Responses

In Israel, the missile barrage led to widespread alerts. Reports from Sabq and CNN Arabic indicate that an Iranian ballistic missile struck a residential building in Haifa, resulting in casualties. Sabq reported that four Israelis were killed in the strike, while CNN Arabic reported two deaths at the same location.

Impact in Israel and Regional Responses

Israeli air defense systems intercepted several missiles, including one fragment found in the Golan Heights. The Israeli military identified the incoming projectiles as ballistic missiles originating from Iran.

Across the Gulf region, countries scrambled to intercept incoming missiles. The Bahrain Interior Ministry confirmed that sirens were activated due to an attack, though it provided no immediate details on the origin of the missiles at the time of the alert. Other reported targets of the barrage included Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait.

Details of the Ceasefire Agreement

The ceasefire was announced by President Trump via Truth Social, stating that the U.S. And Iran had agreed to a two-week pause. According to the announcement, the deal includes Israel and was contingent upon the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz.

Based on conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, of Pakistan, and wherein they requested that I hold off the destructive force being sent tonight to Iran, and subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks. This will be a double sided CEASEFIRE!

Donald Trump via Truth Social

President Trump stated the decision was made because military objectives had been met and exceeded, and progress had been made toward a long-term peace agreement for Iran and the Middle East.

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council stated it had accepted the two-week ceasefire, though the council emphasized that the war itself had not ended. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that passage through the Strait of Hormuz would be permitted for the next two weeks under Iranian military management. Tehran indicated it would begin negotiations with Washington in Islamabad starting Friday, April 11, 2026.

Diplomatic Disputes and Escalation

Despite the ceasefire announcement, diplomatic tensions remained high. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu refuted claims made by the Prime Minister of Pakistan suggesting that Lebanon and the group Hezbollah were included in the ceasefire deal. This follows previous demands from Iran to include Hezbollah in the agreement.

The missile attacks occurred while hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah continued to escalate, with reports of Israeli strikes in the Jnah area of Beirut on April 7, 2026.

The violation of the truce by Tehran comes as Gulf states remain on high alert. While the U.S. And Iran agreed to the pause, the immediate launch of ballistic missiles toward multiple regional capitals has complicated the implementation of the two-week agreement.
