Iran Insists on Uranium Enrichment Rights in Nuclear talks

Iran will not abandon its right to uranium enrichment, according to Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi. Speaking in Cairo alongside Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty, Araqchi stated that no nuclear agreement with the U.S. would be signed if it meant giving up this right.
Araqchi emphasized Iran’s stance on its nuclear program, citing the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). He said Iran is entitled to benefit from nuclear technology. He added that the nation has made sacrifices for its nuclear achievements.
Regarding indirect talks with the U.S., the Iranian Foreign Minister said that an agreement is possible if the goal is to assure that Iran isn’t pursuing nuclear weapons. Though, he stated that if the aim is to prevent Iran from engaging in peaceful nuclear activities, no agreement will be reached.
