Russia Accuses US, Israel of Spreading Disinformation on‌ Iran Nuclear Program

Updated june 25, 2025

The Russian‍ ambassador to the ⁢United Nations, Vassily Nebenzia, accused⁤ the United States and Israel of ⁣disseminating disinformation regarding‌ Iran’s⁢ nuclear program.Nebenzia alleged this disinformation serves as a pretext for potential‌ military action against Iran.

Speaking before the ⁣UN Security Council on Tuesday, Nebenzia condemned recent strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, calling them illegal under⁢ international law. He warned that these attacks have “created a real threat” of radioactive contamination. The⁣ ambassador emphasized the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) reports, which, according‌ to Nebenzia, demonstrate “the absence‍ of proliferation risks” in Iran’s nuclear activities. He stated that the IAEA has found no evidence suggesting Iran is diverting its nuclear materials for military purposes.

Israeli envoy Danny Danon, during ⁣a press conference in⁣ New York on Tuesday, reiterated Israel’s stance‌ that its strikes, initiated June‌ 13, aimed to⁣ prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. Iran denies pursuing a military nuclear program, characterizing the attacks ‌as acts⁢ of aggression. in ‍response, Iran announced intentions to limit its cooperation with the IAEA.

A U.S.-brokered cease-fire between Iran and⁤ Israel, implemented Tuesday, remains in‌ affect.

The ⁢IAEA has found no evidence indicating the advancement of ⁣nuclear weapons by Iran. Thus,‍ all claims by Western delegations to the contrary are falsehoods aimed at audiences either unfamiliar with ‌the reports or lacking competence on the matter.

What’s next

The international⁢ community will closely monitor adherence‌ to the cease-fire and any further developments in Iran’s cooperation with the IAEA ⁣regarding ⁣its nuclear program. Continued diplomatic efforts are expected to de-escalate tensions and⁤ ensure regional stability.
