U.S. intelligence paints a different picture than previously presented regarding the impact of recent airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear program. Contrary to initial claims, the recent report suggests the program was significantly impacted, but not “obliterated.” The Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) assessment, released Monday, directly contradicts assertions made by both former President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister benjamin Netanyahu. The strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities at Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan caused damage, yet fell short of complete destruction, according to sources. U.S. Intel: Iran Nuclear Program Impacted, Not “Obliterated,” Despite strikes
Updated June 25, 2025

A recent U.S. intelligence report indicates that Iran’s nuclear program, while damaged by recent U.S. airstrikes, was not “completely and fully obliterated” as President Donald Trump asserted. The assessment, according to sources familiar with the findings, suggests the program has been set back by only a few months.
The Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) report, issued Monday, contradicts claims by both Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the extent of the damage to Iranian nuclear facilities. The sources, who requested anonymity due to lack of authorization to speak publicly, stated that the strikes on June 21 at Fordo,Natanz, and Isfahan caused significant damage but fell short of total destruction.
The White House has vehemently denied the report’s conclusions. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called the assessment “flat-out wrong.”
“The leaking of this alleged assessment is a clear attempt to demean President Trump and discredit the brave fighter pilots who conducted a perfectly executed mission to obliterate Iran’s nuclear program,” Leavitt saeid.
She added, “Everyone knows what happens when you drop fourteen 30,000 pound bombs perfectly on their targets: total obliteration.”
The CIA and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) have declined to comment on the DIA assessment.
What’s next
The ODNI,which oversees the nation’s 18 intelligence agencies, including the DIA,plays a crucial role in coordinating intelligence related to foreign militaries and adversaries. The discrepancy between the DIA report and the White House’s statements is highly likely to fuel further debate about the effectiveness and impact of the recent strikes.
