Iran Declines US Talks, Strengthens Ties with Lebanon
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi stated on Wednesday that current conditions are unsuitable for negotiations with the United States, citing Washington’s policies as the primary obstacle. He emphasized that Iran’s internal affairs are solely the concern of the Iranian people. Reuters reported on this statement, noting Araqchi’s response to US President Donald Trump’s remarks and support for recent protests.
Internal Dialog and Past Negotiations
araqchi highlighted ongoing interaction and dialogue between the Iranian government and it’s citizens. He affirmed Iran’s past willingness to engage in talks based on mutual respect and shared interests, but indicated that such an approach is currently lacking within the US administration. The Official Website of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran confirms this position.
Strengthening Iran-Lebanon Relations
In a separate announcement, Araqchi revealed plans to travel to Lebanon on Thursday. He underscored the long-standing relationship between Iran and Lebanon, encompassing all facets of the Lebanese government and establishment, and expressed Tehran’s commitment to expanding these ties. He will be accompanied by an economic delegation during his visit to Beirut. Al Manar also reported on the upcoming visit and the economic delegation.
