Tehran Dismisses New Strike Threats From Washington
The remarks in Tehran came amid escalating threats of renewed military strikes. Whether there is war or not, our policies remain the same, Araghchi said during a televised event. They have already done so twice and have seen the results.
U.S. President Donald Trump remarked on Friday that Washington might do “another little Epic Fury,” referring to the U.S.-Israeli campaign on Iran that started on Feb. 28. Araghchi dismissed the threat during a televised event, asserting that a fresh attack would yield no new outcomes.
Strait of Hormuz Control and Counter-Blockade Realities
An April 8 ceasefire halted the heaviest fighting, but sporadic skirmishes have persisted in and around the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global corridor for energy supplies. These military flare-ups have lulled in recent weeks. Iran has maintained control over the passage since the war began, targeting unauthorized vessels, while the U.S. enforces a naval counter-blockade on Iranian ports.
Araghchi added, To achieve peace and stability, our region must move towards the complete absence of foreign forces. Araghchi stated that Iran’s proposal to reopen the strait remains available if Washington accepts Tehran’s conditions, which include ending maritime interference and oil sanctions. Concurrently, a source familiar with the matter told the Iranian outlet Tasnim that reports claiming Iran offered to trade access to the strait solely for the lifting of the U.S. blockade were “lies and fantasies,” reiterating that a comprehensive seven-point plan remains Tehran’s official stance. Until all of Iran’s legitimate demands are met, one of which is ending interference with Iran’s ports and maritime shipping, the insecurity imposed by the American enemy in the Strait of Hormuz will not be eliminated, the source told Tasnim.
Missile Interceptions and Regional Escalation in Riyadh
As tensions ripple across the region, the conflict involves a U.S.-Israeli campaign against Iran, turning U.S. ally Saudi Arabia into a target in the wider war. Saudi civil defence authorities issued emergency alerts for Riyadh, Abha, and Khamis Mushait before declaring the danger had passed minutes later.

The coalition stated that two drones and a ballistic missile were launched toward Riyadh, and a cruise missile toward the southern city of Khamis Mushait. Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree reiterated that the airport remains a “military target” and warned all airlines, airport staffers and travellers against using it.
