The Aedes species, including Aedes ⁢aegypti and Aedes albopictus, are known to transmit diseases like chikungunya,⁤ dengue fever, yellow⁣ fever, and Zika. These mosquitoes are day-biting⁢ insects, increasing the risk of transmission during daylight‌ hours.

culex mosquitoes, conversely,⁤ are the primary vectors for West Nile virus. These mosquitoes become infected by feeding on⁣ infected birds, which act as “amplifier hosts,” developing high levels of the virus in their ‍bloodstream.
