Iran Supports Lebanon’s Ceasefire Negotiations with Israel Amid Escalating Conflict
Iran Supports Lebanon‘s Efforts for Ceasefire
Iran will back any decision Lebanon makes in negotiations to secure a ceasefire with Israel. A senior Iranian official expressed this during a visit to Beirut. This statement comes as Iran aims to end a conflict that has heavily impacted its ally, Hezbollah.
According to reports from Reuters and Al Arabiya, Ali Larijani, an advisor to Iran’s supreme leader, shared this message while tensions rise in Beirut. Israel has intensified its airstrikes on areas controlled by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
This week, Israel has increased its attacks, particularly in the outskirts south of Beirut. This escalation coincides with U.S.-led diplomatic efforts to cease the fighting.
On Thursday, the U.S. ambassador to Lebanon presented a draft proposal for a ceasefire to Nabih Berri, the speaker of the Lebanese parliament. Berri is aligned with Hezbollah regarding the negotiations. This draft represents the first written proposal from Washington aimed at ending the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
After meeting with Berri, Larijani reported that Berri provided valuable clarification on the situation.
