Iran Threat to Türkiye and Neighbors: US Response Concerns
News Center – As the toll in anti-regime demonstrations in Iran worsened,the Tehran administration openly threatened neighboring countries that paved the way for a US attack.As tensions rose in the region, the USA began to withdraw personnel from some of its bases, especially Qatar.
While the largest popular uprising in Iran since the 1979 Islamic Revolution increases the pressure on the regime, the drums of war are also beating abroad.
According to reuters, based on diplomatic sources, Tehran sent a harsh message to the countries in the region, including Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, stating that these countries will be directly targeted if US bases on their territory are used.
US evacuates personnel
As the tension in the region peaked, the USA began to withdraw personnel from some of its key bases in the Middle East as a precaution.
Diplomatic sources stated that some personnel at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar were warned to leave the base by Wednesday evening.
Authorities describe this situation as a “precautionary change of position” rather than a “mass evacuation”.
Warning from iran to Turkey, Saudi Arabia and UAE
A senior Iranian official stated that Washington warned its neighbors against a possible air attack and said:
“Tehran has conveyed to all countries in the region, from Saudi Arabia and the UAE to Türkiye, that if the US targets Iran, American bases in these countries will be targeted.”
The same official added that direct contacts between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi and US special Representative Steve Witkoff were also suspended.
Israel: ”Trump decided to intervene”
According to Israeli intelligence assessments, US President Donald Trump has decided to intervene in Iran, but the time and scope of this action are not yet clear.
On Tuesday, Trump promised to take “very harsh actions” if the protesters were executed and sent a message to the Iranian people: “Help is on the way, continue the protests.”
