Iranian missiles with cluster bomb warheads struck several densely populated cities in central Israel on April 4, 2026, causing significant damage to residential buildings and infrastructure.

The salvos targeted multiple locations, including Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan, Givatayim, Bnei Brak, Petah Tikva, and Rosh Ha’ayin. While over a dozen impact sites were reported across the region, there were no fatalities, and six people sustained light injuries.

Damage in Ramat Gan and Central Israel

In Ramat Gan, a cluster munition struck a residential building located near a community garden and a preschool. The missile punched through an apartment building and directly into a bedroom, leaving the room exposed to the open air.

One resident reported that the building lacked a bomb shelter, and the absence of casualties was due to the fact that the building was empty at the time of the strike.

By the morning of April 5, 2026, the Home Front Command sealed the entrance to the structure, designating it unsafe for entry. Residents remained outside the site, attempting to determine if they could retrieve their belongings.

One woman, who had been visiting family in Jerusalem during the weekend, learned of the destruction of her home through relatives before returning to find the property barely recognizable.

Broader Context of Iranian Missile Activity

The April 4 attacks follow a pattern of Iranian missile strikes against Israeli targets in early 2026. On March 22, 2026, Iranian ballistic missiles targeted both central and southern Israel, resulting in injuries to scores of people.

During the March 22 strikes, damage was reported in several cities:

  • In Dimona and Arad, missiles caused damage to residential buildings.
  • In Tel Aviv, a missile strike caused damage to the city.
  • In Beersheva, a ballistic missile scored a direct hit on Soroka Hospital.

Israeli air defenses were observed intercepting a ballistic missile fired from Iran outside the atmosphere on March 22, as seen from Jerusalem.

an AeroSentinel production facility was reported as severely damaged following a strike by an Iranian ballistic missile.

Military leadership has addressed the escalating tensions. On March 21, 2026, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir met with Northern Command chief Maj. Gen. Rafi Milo at the Northern Command HQ in Safed. On March 22, the IDF chief stated that the fight with Hezbollah had only just begun.
