Iranian Police Arrest suspect in Park Ranger Killing

A man has been arrested by Iranian police in connection with the fatal shooting of Hedayatollah Didban,a senior park ranger. The park ranger was killed in the Khaeez Protected Area. The suspect was apprehended during a surprise raid in a neighboring province.
Following his arrest, the suspect confessed to the crime. He also directed authorities to the location of Didban’s stolen weapon and equipment. The Khaeez Protected Area, a vital area for wildlife conservation, spans over 32,000 hectares across Khuzestan and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad provinces.
colonel Mansour Silavi, police chief of Behbahan County, stated that the arrest was the result of thorough investigations and close cooperation with judicial authorities. The operation took place shortly after Didban’s death, which occurred while he was responding to reports of gunfire in the Tang-e Bistom area.
Didban, 51, was ambushed by illegal hunters on Tuesday. He was shot in the head at close range with an assault rifle before he could exit his vehicle. The assailants then fled with his gear. Didban had served in the Department of Environment for more than 20 years. He was known for his dedication and expertise in environmental protection.
“The arrest followed detailed investigations and coordination with judicial authorities,” Colonel Mansour silavi said.
